Mothers working across the nation to feed and house their babies are pleading with legislators to help us keep our jobs so we can keep feeding our babies..

The following are a series of revolutionary blogs by mama scholars in the summer session of peopleskool at POOR Magazine. If you care about the survival of all of our families in California please call Diane Feinstein at (202) 224-3841, Barbara Boxer at (202)224-3553 and Nancy Pelosi at (415)556-4862 and tell them to support the American Jobs and Closing Tax Loopholes, HR 4213.

Re: American Jobs & Closing Tax Loophole, HR 4213

Dear Legislators,

We write to you today as hard working mothers and fathers living in your district, struggling to raise and support our families and children, the present and future of your district. In order to support our families we diligently work in the Community Jobs Program (CJP), which provides us the invaluable training and on-the-job work experience we need to survive in San Francisco. However, without proper state and federal funding the CJP cannot continue to provide us with these opportunities that will inevitably help us obtain living wage jobs and provide our children with the same chances afforded wealthier children like food, shelter, and a decent education. The CJP is currently in danger of being drastically cut from lack of state and federal financial support on September 30, 2010.

We write this letter in the hopes that you will do what is right and support to extend the CJP. Currently, there is a bill pending congressional approval, the American Jobs & Closing Tax Loophole, HR 4213, that will help to extend the CJP and continue providing us the work experience and training we need. We urge you to act immediately and act now to help support the economic future of your district and the future well-being of our families and our communities. Without the CJP many people, including us, will lose our chance to a better future and an opportunity to support our families, which should be a basic human right for all people in the U.S., especially the people living in your district. So once again, please do the right thing and sign HR 4213. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
